An LLB graduate from Eduardo Mondlane University (Mozambique) and LLM from University of Pretoria (South Africa). Trained in Mining and Petroleum International Law and Contracts by Wits University (South Africa), he was for several years an international law lecturer at Eduardo Mondlane University and has vast experience in consulting for public and private entities in Mozambique. Before he rejoined Sal & Caldeira Advogados, where he worked previously as Senior Legal Advisor, he was for 7 years a programme manager for Soros Foundation Southern Africa, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. He currently lectures Mozambican oil and gas law and he is member of the Mozambique Bar Association as an Attorney and has been since 1999 a registered trade mark agent.
Mr. Amaral is deeply involved with the oil and gas sector in Mozambique, representing the industry in legal reform and contractual regime negotiations and also providing legal services to the major players in the sector.
