Full-Time Regulator Member - Piped Gas

Nomfundo Maseti is the Full-Time Regulator Member responsible for Piped-Gas and Petroleum Pipelines Regulation at NERSA.
She holds a BA Honours degree in Economics and a Postgraduate Diploma in Economics for Competition Law. Her career spans 17 years of experience in competition law enforcement and economic regulation, which she started in the competition law and policy environment at the Competition Commission of SA from early 2000. She gained experience in competition law principles, handling merger and acquisition transactions and high profile investigations in various industries including energy.
She joined the Department of Trade and Industry in February 2007, serving mainly as Chief Director responsible for policy and legislative formulation and corporate and consumer regulation in various areas including competition and consumer policy and law.
She joined NERSA in November 2010 as an Executive Manager responsible for piped-gas and was appointed as the Regulator Member in March 2014. She successfully managed the transition of the regulatory regime applicable to the piped-gas industry until March 2014 into the new regulatory regime encapsulated in the Gas Act of 2001. She was instrumental in the development of the Maximum Price Methodology and Competition Assessment paving the way for NERSA to approve maximum gas prices.
