Director of the Center for Excellence in Oil and Gas
Universidade Eduardo Mondlane
Dr. Luís Lucas has had a long teaching experience at all levels of the formal education system. Since the 90´s, he has been involved in teaching different undergraduate and post-graduate courses at the Faculty of Engineering of the Eduardo Mondlane University (Kinetics and Chemical Reactors, Risk and Safety Management, Process Control and Instrumentation, Fluid Dynamics, Reservoir Engineering and Phase behaviour of Petroleum Fluids). For years, he has also been researching biomass, including studies on the efficient use of biomass and assessment of the gaseous emissions in respect to bakery ovens, stoves and furnaces for bricks production. Following this path, the main topic of his Ph.D. research program was the modelling of biomass pyrolysis as a function of pressure and vapour phase residence time.
Throughout all these years he has also been involved in many academic management activities. He has played the position of deputy-dean for academic affairs (2000-2002), deputy-dean for post-graduate Studies (2010-2017), and since February 2017 he plays the role of Director of the Center of Studies of Oil and Gas Engineering and Technology at the University Eduardo Mondlane.
