Ricardo Aboud has a BSc in Civil Engineering, with specialization in Soil Mechanics, graduated from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, in 1983. He has spent the last 30 years in the oil industry, having been involved in several oil & gas projects in more than 25 different countries, in all regions of the world, in engineering, business development, and management roles. He was an SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers) Director of Brazil Session (2005-2006) and the Secretary of SPE Session in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (2001- 2002. Aboud is an author of numerous technical papers and magazine articles and has served on the technical committees of many SPE conferences and workshops. He was the Distinguished Lecturer on cementing in the 2006 VI Seflucempo Conference in Isla Marguerita, Venezuela, and a worldwide SPE Distinguished Lecturer in deep-water cementing (2001-2012). He was also the President of the Brazilian Association of Service Companies, with 22 major international service companies, between 2006 and 2007. He joined GE Oil & Gas in April 2013, as Commercial Leader for East Africa, and is based in Maputo, Mozambique.
